Privacy Policy

Summary

Kalima is a local-first audiobook player for Android. It does not require an account, show ads, use analytics, sell personal data, or upload audiobook files, listening progress, bookmarks, notes, or settings to Korionx servers.

Information Stored On The Device

Kalima may store the folder permission selected through Android's system file picker; local and downloaded audiobook files and metadata; listening progress; bookmarks; private notes; settings; exported backups; and a temporary cache of public catalog metadata. This information stays on the device.

Optional Online Catalog

When a user opens the free-audiobook catalog, Kalima requests public metadata from the LibriVox API. If a user searches, the title or author query they enter is sent to LibriVox to return matching books. Standard network information, such as an IP address and request headers, may be processed by the receiving service as part of delivering the request.

When a user confirms a download, Kalima retrieves the selected public-domain recording and available cover image from LibriVox and Internet Archive. The files are stored in Kalima's app-specific storage and can be removed from within the app. Korionx does not receive catalog queries, download requests, files, or listening activity.

LibriVox states that its recordings are public domain in the United States. Copyright rules vary by country, and users should check the status of a work where they live before downloading it.

Information Not Collected

Kalima does not send names, email addresses, phone numbers, location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone data, SMS data, call logs, advertising identifiers, analytics events, crash reports, audiobook files, listening history, bookmarks, notes, settings, or library contents to Korionx.

Permissions

Kalima uses Internet access for the optional catalog and downloads; foreground services and notifications for playback and user-started downloads; wake lock for reliable background work; audio settings for volume boost and equalizer support; and the optional accelerometer feature for shake-to-extend. Kalima accesses existing audiobook files only after the user selects a folder through Android's system file picker.

Sharing

Korionx does not sell or share personal data. A catalog query or user-selected download request is sent directly to LibriVox or Internet Archive only to perform the action the user requested.

Data Deletion

Users can remove a downloaded catalog audiobook from its detail page. Other local data can be removed by deleting notes or backups, clearing Kalima's app storage in Android settings, or uninstalling the app. Kalima has no account and Korionx stores no user data on its servers, so there is no Korionx server-side account data to delete. Requests sent to third-party services are governed by their respective policies.

Security

Kalima uses encrypted HTTPS connections for its online catalog and downloads. No method of network transmission or device storage is completely secure, but Kalima minimizes transmitted data and keeps personal listening data on the device.

Future Online Features

If Kalima later adds accounts, cloud sync, subscriptions, analytics, crash reporting, or integrations with other Korionx products, this policy and the relevant in-app and store disclosures will be updated before those features are released.

Changes

Korionx may update this policy as Kalima changes. The effective date above will be updated when the policy changes.
