perfect article that describes what i’ve anticipated at lvl 16 right now , but if i can add something its gonna be from a game and algorithm developer point of view :
1- i don’t think the “pokemon go” of right now is by anyway complete , on the contrary , i think it was more of a very early beta of the real thing .. but due to many factors Nintendo decided that this early beta is more than enough as a start to test the game potential and how players and the world is going to interact with it .. given that niantic pushed ingress before into the world , and didn’t meet its expectations .
2- most massive multiplayer games , all hit that exact same wall you’ve described here , e.g silk road , WOW ,even LOL in some ways .. they all start with a very addictive smooth funny exciting learning curve , and at some point it becomes more of a job to figure out the steps needed to achieve minuscule advances over your competition .. and in a way .. thats similar to life itself .
3- in my opinion .. all pokemon go needs right now more than the trading and battling options they are releasing in the next updates .. is : a very well structured group based goal system .. meaning :
- now u got people out in the street
- u gave them some feeling of loyalty to either blu/red/yellow .. next :
- factor the numbers and locations of gyms and their colors into their respective players XP level .
- summon certain rare pokemons with high cp as rewards for such group collective goals .
